Foster Care Support Team

"Father to the fatherless, defender of widows—
    this is God, whose dwelling is holy.
God places the lonely in families;
    he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy."

How awesome & encouraging is it that the Lord calls himself the Father to the fatherless, defender of widows and that he places the lonely in families? It is so evident in scripture that the Lord cares for those who are suffering and is near to the brokenhearted. He is our rescuer and our redeemer and we are excited as a church body to do as he did and care for those in our neighborhood. Foster care can be an overwhelming and lonely experience resulting in most foster families quitting within the 1st year.

The Two Rivers Foster Care Support Team seeks to WRAP around foster families in our church body by providing Words of encouragement, Respite, Acts of service and Prayer for these families. If you are interested in supporting families who have said yes to fostering we would love to connect with you and share more about the foster care system as well as brainstorm how you can uniquely support and encourage these families based on your talents & passions. We are asking for care team partners to be committed to supporting a foster family once a month in a specific way that the family actually needs while also remaining flexible to any needs that might arise within the church or the families we are supporting. Partners will need to attend a training meeting and pass a background check before they are invited into the groupme or matched with a family. There are also a couple forms that we will give individuals/families during the training to fill out so that we can best match them with a family based on desires, strengths, availability and need. We would also ask that as much as possible, partners commit to serving the family for a semester to develop meaningful relationships and to provide long term, reliable support.
